UAE Residents Enjoy Free Admission On International Museum Day, 18 May
In a special gesture to celebrate International Museum Day, a renowned cultural institution in the United Arab Emirates is offering free admission to all UAE residents on 18 May from 10 am to 8:30 pm. To avail of this offer, visitors simply need to present their UAE ID at the ticket desk, or for a more streamlined entry, they can pre-book their visit online.
The museum extends an invitation to explore its diverse collections, temporary exhibitions, and the architectural masterpiece it is housed in. Additionally, the café will be open for visitors to relax and enjoy. This initiative is part of the broader celebration of museums and cultural heritage, emphasizing the museum's commitment to making art and culture accessible to everyone.
As part of the festivities, the museum has organized a range of activities suitable for families and visitors of all ages from 11 am to 4 pm. These include:
#MakeandPlay: A creative session where participants can draw inspiration from the museum's collection to create their own art pieces. Located in the Lower Forum, these activities run throughout the stated hours.
Drawing at the Museum: An opportunity for guests to sketch and engage with the artwork collection, taking place under the Dome at specified times in the afternoon.
Early Explorers: A special program designed for young children and their parents to explore the museum collection and participate in #MakeandPlay activities, located in Gallery 9.1 with multiple sessions throughout the day.
Origami Tales: Families are invited to delve into the stories of 'Kalila wa Dimna’ through origami, creating animals inspired by the tales. This is set in the Temporary Exhibition space with sessions in the early and late afternoon.
To ensure a pleasant experience despite the expected high volume of visitors, the museum advises guests to plan their visit in advance. Recommendations include pre-booking tickets, considering public transport or car sharing to alleviate parking challenges, and being patient and courteous to others during their visit. For those driving, additional parking is available at the Abrahamic Family House with free shuttle buses running every 15 minutes. Visitors are also encouraged to stay updated on any announcements by following the museum's social media channels.
With these thoughtful arrangements, the museum aims to provide a memorable and enriching International Museum Day experience for all its guests, highlighting the importance of museums as spaces for learning, inspiration, and enjoyment.
