Sand Sherpa has opened its Nomad Camp for family bookings now. Located within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR), this camp provides a unique desert experience aimed at helping families reconnect with nature and each other.

The Nomad Camp offers traditional Bedouin-style tents equipped with modern amenities. Each tent can house two adults and up to four children comfortably. With 10 tents available, it's perfect for larger groups too. Guests can enjoy nomad-style cooking around a traditional three-stone fireplace, guided nature walks, or simply relax by the campfire under the stars.

Saturday bookings come with extra activities for children, including a movie night complete with marshmallows and popcorn. The experience builds on Sand Sherpa's signature adventure, featuring a scenic wildlife drive through the reserve en route to camp, an evening scorpion walk, and a morning hawk walk with trained birds of prey.

Expert guides provide insights into the desert's flora and fauna, ensuring an educational and memorable experience. Guests can enjoy bush dinners with fresh salads, grilled vegetables, fire-cooked burgers and pizzas, followed by a wholesome breakfast the next morning.

In addition to weekend camps, Sand Sherpa welcomes school groups as part of its Nomad Ways programme. This initiative is based on nomadic knowledge, values, and skills to ensure they are preserved. Through hands-on activities like fire-making and desert navigation, students develop a meaningful connection with nature.

Itinerary Details

The all-inclusive family escape at Sand Sherpa's Nomad Camp includes various activities over two days. On Day 1, guests are picked up from their hotel or residence from 14:00 onwards if transfers are booked. Arrival at DDCR is at 15:00 for a welcome briefing followed by a safari drive to the campsite under Sand Sherpa guidance.

Upon arrival at 16:15, guests familiarise themselves with the camp and nomad tents before enjoying leisure time. Guides light individual campfires between 17:30 - 18:00; on Saturdays, guests may join a nomad cooking workshop. A bush dinner is served at 19:00 in the main camp area.

A guided scavenger hunt follows daily at 20:00; Saturday camps include a movie night for kids. On Day 2, guests participate in a hawk walk or guided morning desert trek across dunes at 07:15 (Saturday camps). Breakfast is served at 07:45 before departing from camp to DDCR Gate at 09:30.
