Electric Picnic 2024, One Of The Biggest Global Music Festivals, Ignites Excitement In Ireland
Electric Picnic, Ireland's largest music and arts festival, is back this weekend. Thousands of music enthusiasts are preparing to camp in County Laois. This year, the event has increased its capacity, expecting 75,000 attendees at Stradbally Hall Estate.
The festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary since starting as a one-day event in 2004, will feature over 50 acts. Notably, the main stage will be powered by renewable energy this year.
Headline Acts and Performances
Calvin Harris is set to headline the main stage on Saturday. Kylie Minogue will take the main stage on Sunday at 22:30. The line-up offers something for everyone, from global stars to local Irish acts.
Dublin native Jazzy will perform again this year. Other Irish performers include Lankum, Villagers, The Wolfe Tones, and Kneecap. Additional acts include Tom Grennan, Nas, The Waterboys, CMAT, Bambie Thug, Jessie Murph, and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
Additional Attractions
This year sees the return of TERMINUS – Freetown's towering temple of Dance. Up to 8,000 people can dance within this warehouse-like structure designed for electronica and dance music acts.
Anachronica also returns with its rave in the woods. Designed by The Inevitable Salvagers using scrap and recycled materials, it features top names in Irish and UK house, techno, garage and electronic music.
Age Restrictions
Electric Picnic is an over-18s event except for children aged 12 and under. Children aged 13-17 years old are not allowed even if accompanied by an adult. Proof of age is required for everyone; otherwise tickets will be void.
Cashless Transactions
The festival site operates cashless only for all bars and traders. Lockers and storage boxes are available all weekend at the Jimi Hendrix campsite but are limited in number. Booking in advance is recommended.

If driving to the festival with your tent and supplies on board, plan your route ahead due to road closures and diversions. Gardai advise against using sat-nav or GPS; instead use their interactive map.
