Happy Birthday: Dubai Metro Blue Line Set To Transform Urban Connectivity By 2029
Happy 15th birthday to our beloved Dubai Metro! All those who commute via the Red and the Green Lines daily cannot undermine its significance in our daily lives. Now this world's largest driverless transportation network will soon be expanding its reach with the introduction of the Blue Line, set to be begin in 2024. This new line aims to enhance public transportation by adding more stations and routes, making travel across the city more efficient. The Blue Line will join the existing Green and Red Lines, broadening the metro's reach.
The Blue Line Project aligns with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, anticipating a population surge. This expansion will alleviate pressure on the current metro lines by covering the northeast side of Dubai. The project includes 14 new stations, extending the network by an additional 30 kilometres.
Once completed, it is expected to serve 200,000 passengers every day with this number rising to 320,000 by 2040. In July 2024, the RTA announced that the Dubai Metro will more than double its number of stations operating in the city by 2040. Let's look ahead on what this Blue Line will offer once operations commence.

The Blue Line will connect key urban areas such as Bur Dubai, Deira, Downtown, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence, and Expo City Dubai.
