Recreational Tourism: Dubai Beaches Set for World-Class Makeover Under Dh355 Million Urban Plan

Dubai is set to transform its public beaches into world-class destinations, thanks to a new development project. Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Higher Committee for Urban Planning and Well-Being has awarded contracts to develop Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches. The project, estimated to cost Dh355 million, will span 5.7 km and is expected to be completed in 18 months.

The aim of the project is to elevate Dubai's public beaches to international standards and create a new recreational tourism destination. The development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches is part of Dubai's ongoing efforts to build sustainable infrastructure for coastal and beach facilities. It aligns with the Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches, which aims to provide new recreational, sports, aesthetic, and investment facilities that meet the highest international standards.

Dubai s AED 355M Beach Enhancement

The project is in line with Dubai's vision to become a world leader in quality of life and enhance its attractiveness as a vibrant city. It supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, Dubai Urban Plan 2040, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. The ultimate goal is to make Dubai the best city to live, work, and visit, as well as a leading destination for beach tourism.

The development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches will create a unique global model in beach design. The infrastructure will be enhanced to cater to the growing population and tourism in the emirate. The beaches will feature advanced services and facilities, including Dubai's first 24/7 beach for night swimming in Deira. A pedestrian path spanning 5 km will connect the two beaches, along with cycling and running tracks surrounded by trees. A 200-metre-long floating bridge, the first of its kind in Dubai, will connect both sides of Al Mamzar Beach.

The beaches will be equipped with public health and service facilities, such as toilets, showers, and changing rooms, designed to world-class standards. There will be recreational play areas, children's playgrounds, beach and fitness areas, barbecue zones, beach rest amenities, and seasonal event spaces. The project also includes 1,400 parking spaces, including charging stations for eco-friendly vehicles, as well as networks for drinking water stations, irrigation systems, and sewage drainage systems.

Advanced technology will be integrated into the beaches, including safety deposit boxes, Wi-Fi, and electronic screens. Beach rescue services will utilize AI-assisted technologies, with over 100 modern cameras linked to the central control rooms of Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

The development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches will also offer more than 50 unique investment opportunities. These include water activity rentals, commercial outlets and kiosks, restaurants, self-service food and beverage machines, advertising spaces, and beach seating and umbrellas.

In addition to providing world-class facilities, the project aims to adapt to climate change by elevating the beaches and enhancing their resilience. More than half a million cubic meters of beach sand will be used to protect the emirate's beaches, based on comprehensive studies.

Throughout the development process, the beaches will remain partially open to the public. Occupational safety measures will be implemented to ensure the safety and health of visitors.

The project is part of Dubai's ongoing efforts to enhance its public beaches and provide sustainable infrastructure and integrated services in line with international standards. The city's eight public beaches have received Blue Flag certification for five consecutive years, meeting standards for marine water quality, environmental education, management, public safety, and services.

With the development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches, Dubai is set to become a leading destination for beach tourism, offering residents, tourists, and visitors an unparalleled experience on its world-class shores.
