Emirati Women's Day: Dubai's Abaya Rally Marks The Day with a Celebration of Empowerment

The fourth edition of the Abaya Rally, an all-women car rally promoting empowerment, is scheduled for August 24, 2024, at Dubai Autodrome. This event coincides with Emirati Women's Day celebrations.

Organised by Orbit Events, the rally will see over 200 women participating in their Abayas. The event aims to highlight women's driving skills and their commitment to progress and sustainability. Women from various nationalities will join, symbolising strength and identity in the UAE.

Celebrating Women's Achievements

The rally aligns with this year's Emirati Women's Day theme, 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.' This theme reflects the UAE's dedication to unity and empowerment. Previous themes have included 'We Collaborate for Tomorrow' (2023) and 'Inspiring Reality… Sustainable Future' (2022).

Eng. Maitha Alblooshi, a panelist, expressed her pride in representing women at the rally. She stated, "It is a profound honor to stand alongside and represent remarkable women at the Abaya Rally and Emirati Women's Day, celebrating the extraordinary achievements that define our nation."

Event Highlights

The Club Circuit will feature a diverse lineup of vehicles such as supercars, sports cars, 4x4s, and superbikes. A new drift passenger experience has been added for those seeking high-speed thrills. The event will also include a red carpet and panel discussions spotlighting pioneering women.

Shaima Alhanaee, an Emirati trailblazer and mechanical engineer, shared her thoughts on the event: "As an Emirati woman and trailblazer, I am honoured to pave the way for future generations."

Symbolism of the Abaya

The Abaya Rally intertwines tradition with modernity by centering on the Abaya as a cultural symbol. The event celebrates the 'Power of Abayas,' honouring its significance as a marker of modesty and heritage for Arab women.

ZEEKR X will be featured as the flagship vehicle of the rally. ZEEKR UAE is distributed by AW Rostamani Group (AWR) and represents innovation in premium electric vehicles. The ZEEKR 001 will also be showcased during a fashion show segment.
