Chef Björn Frantzén Introduces Studio Frantzén, His First Permanent Dubai Restaurant
In a significant boost to Dubai's culinary landscape, Björn Frantzén, a pioneer in fine dining, has announced the opening of two novel restaurant concepts at Atlantis, The Palm, marking his first permanent foray into the city's dining scene. Following his initial introduction to Dubai with the Enigma pop-up at Palazzo Versace hotel in 2016, Frantzén's decision to establish a permanent presence comes after Michelin's arrival in Dubai in 2022, reflecting his confidence in the city's evolving food scene. As he puts it, "I cannot think of a better time to introduce our concepts to the region. We are both proud and excited to bring our gastronomy to the ever-evolving food scene of Dubai, and there is no better place for us to showcase our immersive dining experience than the culinary destination, Atlantis Dubai".
Studio Frantzén and FZN are the two high-end dining establishments slated to open doors, offering distinct experiences rooted in Frantzén's renowned culinary philosophy. Studio Frantzén will present a luxurious yet informal dining ambiance, highlighting the best of Nordic cuisine with a splash of Asian influence. The space is designed to accommodate up to 220 patrons, featuring a vibrant bar, an exclusive dining area, cozy booths, and even seating at the kitchen counter for a more personal dining journey. The menu promises to tantalize taste buds with offerings like porterhouse steak and a unique dish of blistered lobster served with curry hollandaise, pomegranate-infused mirin, and a host of other exquisite ingredients.
Adjacent to Studio Frantzén, FZN introduces a more exclusive, fine-dining experience, mirroring the excellence of Frantzén's Michelin-starred establishments in Stockholm and Singapore. The setting at FZN is designed to be intimate, with a rooftop orangery that offers breathtaking views of Dubai’s skyline, where guests can enjoy aperitifs while learning about the luxurious ingredients that will feature in their meal. This is followed by a return to a cozy, living room-style dining area that seats only 27, offering a meal that beautifully blends Nordic, Japanese, and French culinary traditions. The menu here is set to impress with delicacies like Crudo of scallop with salted Tokyo turnip, king crab grilled over birch embers, and spice roasted fallow deer, promising an unparalleled dining experience.
Chef Frantzén's venture into Dubai's dining scene with Studio Frantzén and FZN is not just an expansion of his gastronomic empire but also a testament to the city's growing stature as a global culinary hub. With these openings, Atlantis, The Palm is set to further cement its reputation as an unparalleled dining destination, attracting food enthusiasts from around the world eager to experience Frantzén's culinary magic firsthand. The chef's dedication to creating immersive dining experiences, combined with his innovative approach to Nordic cuisine, is poised to enrich Dubai's diverse restaurant landscape, offering residents and visitors alike a taste of Michelin-starred excellence.
