Amer Zahr To Perform At Dubai Comedy Festival, Donates Fees To Support Refugees
On October 11, the Dubai Opera will light up with laughter as Amer Zahr, a Palestinian-American comedian, takes the stage during the Dubai Comedy Festival. His upcoming show, "ARAB GOSSIP," promises an evening filled with laughter, exploring the nuances of Arab culture through family dynamics, community tales, and the inevitable spread of gossip, which, in Arab communities, seems to outpace even the fastest internet connections.
Zahr's performance is not just about entertainment; it serves a higher purpose. He has pledged to donate his entire show fee to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to assist Palestinian refugees.

"Comedy has always been my way of bringing people together," Amer stated. "This time, I also want my performance to help make a real difference for families who need it most." This gesture reflects his commitment to using his platform for philanthropy, highlighting the ongoing struggles in Palestine and supporting those in need through his art.
The comedian articulated his thoughts further. "This has been a difficult time for all of us. As artists, we all try to find a way to cope with the happenings in Palestine while still presenting our creativity. In light of everything, when I perform at the Dubai Comedy Festival at the Dubai Opera on October 11, I'll be donating my personal fee from the show to the UNRWA. So, when you come to this show, you are helping me help UNRWA and the refugees in Palestine," he shared. Amer's heartfelt message concludes with an invitation, "I hope to see you all there! From the heart, Amer Zahr."
Amer's approach to comedy has garnered international acclaim, allowing him to perform in over 15 countries and share stages on significant global platforms. Beyond his stand-up, Zahr is also an author, with works such as "Being Palestinian Makes Me Smile," contributing to his reputation as a comedian who can elegantly balance humor with poignant social commentary. By highlighting common human experiences, Amer aims to dismantle stereotypes, fostering a sense of unity and understanding through laughter.
The Dubai Comedy Festival, which runs from October 2-12, is set to feature an array of comedic talents from around the world. Zahr's appearance at the Dubai Opera is particularly noteworthy, blending high-quality humor with a meaningful cause. For those interested in attending the show, it is scheduled to commence at 6 pm, with tickets starting at AED 150 (including VAT). These are available for purchase through Platinumlist, Dubai Opera, and Dubai Calendar, with the show recommended for audiences aged 14 and above.
