Ajman Celebrates International Dance Day With Festival Of Folklore Strings
The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is set to host an enthralling cultural event, the Festival of Folklore Strings, scheduled for April 27, 2024, at the Ajman Cultural Center. This event, organized in collaboration with Ideaspeak, is timed to coincide with International Dance Day, showcasing the universal appeal of dance in uniting different cultures and communities.
His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the ADTD, emphasized the festival's role in bridging cultures through dance. "Dance transcends borders, preserving cultural heritage and connecting communities," he stated, highlighting the festival's aim to celebrate Ajman's cultural diversity and encourage cross-cultural dialogue.

The festival is set to offer a 90-minute showcase featuring 18 performances by 70 talented artists aged between 10 and 50 years. These performances will cover a broad spectrum of folkloric traditions from across the world, including Russian, Greek, Argentine, Georgian, Austrian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Indian, Moldovan, Hungarian, and Armenian dances. Each performance, lasting between 4 to 5 minutes, promises to provide a glimpse into the unique dance styles and cultural narratives of these varied regions.
Adding to the visual splendor, the festival will display around 400 pieces of costumes and accessories, enhancing the authenticity and vibrancy of each performance. This rich visual tapestry is designed to captivate audiences, taking them on a journey through the diverse and rich folklore traditions of the world.
