UAE President's Cup 2025: Luwsail Secures Gr1 Title At ParisLongchamp Racecourse

The 32nd edition of the UAE President's Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses, held on 11 May 2025 at the ParisLongchamp Racecourse, highlighted the rich tradition and global appeal of Arabian horse racing. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the series aims to preserve the heritage of Arabian horse racing while supporting breeders and owners internationally.

It showcases the best of equine athleticism while fostering international partnerships among breeders and owners. The Cup's aim is to elevate the stature of Arabian horse racing worldwide, and this year's edition in Paris was a shining example of these efforts.

Luwsail Claims Gr1 Title at UAE President s Cup

Luwsail, owned by Al Shaqab Racing and under the guidance of jockey Faleh Bughenaim and trainer Jean de Mieulle, secured a victory in the President of the UAE Cup – Coupe d'Europe des Chevaux Arabes (Gr1 PA). The horse's remarkable performance over the 2,000-meter course earned him his second UAE President's Cup title and a €350,000 prize, solidifying Al Shaqab Racing's esteemed status in the racing world. Following closely were RB Kingmaker and Muraad, finishing second and third respectively, which underscored the depth of talent present.

The event was further enriched by the inclusion of two Group 1 classics under the Emirates banner, adding to the night's excitement. Henri Matisse, ridden by Ryan Moore and trained by Aidan O'Brien, claimed the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) and a €650,000 prize. Zarigana, owned by His Highness The Aga Khan and with Mickael Barzalona as the jockey, secured victory in the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas), earning a €550,000 prize. These wins not only showcased the horses' abilities but also highlighted the skill and dedication of their respective teams.

The UAE President's Cup Series attracted notable attendees, including HE Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, the UAE Ambassador to France; HE Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary-General of the Higher Organizing Committee; and Mr. Guillaume de Saint-Seine, President of France Galop, among others. Their presence, along with other distinguished guests, added a layer of prestige to the event and emphasized the strong relationship between the UAE and France in the realm of horse racing.
