Turkish Airlines Open To Make A Comeback In Turkiye After Six-Year Hiatus
Turkish Airlines is set to revive its role as the title sponsor of the Turkish Airlines Open, a prestigious event on the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai calendar, after a break of six years.
The competition is scheduled to take place at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Antalya from May 8-11, 2025, marking a significant return to Turkiye's golfing scene. This move is part of a collaborative effort with the Turkish Golf Federation to promote the sport within the country and internationally.
During a formal ceremony at the Turkish Airlines Headquarters, key figures such as Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Golf Federation Nihat Özdemir, and Mark Casey, the DP World Tour Director of Tournament Business, among other executives, signed the sponsorship agreement. This event underscored the shared vision of enhancing golf's prominence globally and in Turkey.
Ekşi said, "As Turkish Airlines, we remain committed to connecting people and cultures around the globe through the pursuit of excellence in sports. In line with this commitment, we are glad to take another step in supporting sports and athletes through Turkish Airlines Open."
Nihat Özdemir from the Turkish Golf Federation expressed appreciation for Turkish Airlines' support. "With the Turkish Airlines Open tournament to be held in May, a leg of Europe's largest professional golf tour is returning to our country. I would like to extend our gratitude to the tournament's title sponsor, Turkish Airlines, for its significant contributions," he stated.
"The DP World Tour is delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines as title partner, as the Turkish Airlines Open returns to the Race to Dubai this season. We look forward to arriving in the golfing hub of Antalya once again, working alongside Turkish Airlines, Turkish Golf Federation and all tournament partners to deliver what I'm sure will be a memorable week," added Mark Casey, highlighting the anticipation and collaborative spirit among the organizers.
The Turkish Airlines Open has been a notable event since its inception in 2013, attracting elite professional golfers such as Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, and Rory McIlroy to Antalya, contributing to the sport's growth in Turkey.
Furthermore, Turkish Airlines extends its support to amateur golf through the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, the largest amateur golf tournament worldwide, which this year spans 117 destinations across 73 countries.
