MacIntyre Rides High On Scottish Open Win Eyeing Success At The Open

Robert MacIntyre, Scotland's prominent golfer, is gearing up for The Open. His preparations were slightly delayed due to his exuberant celebrations following his Scottish Open victory last weekend. MacIntyre made history by becoming the first Scot to win the Scottish Open since Colin Montgomerie in 1999.

Reflecting on his win, MacIntyre shared, "I'm not a big drinker, but when you get moments like that, and you've got family and friends there that have backed you since you were a young kid, it was quite right to go absolutely wild." He added that they celebrated thoroughly and plan to reflect and celebrate again after this week.

MacIntyre Eyes The Open After Win

Discussing his strategy for The Open, MacIntyre maintained a modest outlook. "I'm not going out there trying to win a golf tournament," he said. He emphasised the importance of staying calm and focused, stating that thinking about winning too early can disrupt one's emotions and control.

MacIntyre's victory at the Scottish Open is significant as it marks 25 years since a Scot last won The Open, with Paul Lawrie's triumph at Carnoustie. Despite being considered an outside bet for the Claret Jug, the 27-year-old remains grounded in his approach.

He elaborated on his mindset by saying, "We all start off from level par and I've got as much chance as everyone else in the field. It's just about getting in that position on Sunday and seeing where the cards fall. Hopefully I'll have a chance. That's all I want."

MacIntyre's recent tweet humorously acknowledged his celebratory hangover with a picture captioned, "Walking off the hangover @TheOpen pic.twitter.com/snI7mocYFO".

As he prepares for The Open, MacIntyre's focus remains on maintaining composure and giving himself a fighting chance come Sunday. His recent success has certainly boosted his confidence and provided him with invaluable experience heading into one of golf's most prestigious tournaments.

The support from his family and friends has been crucial throughout his journey. Their presence during his Scottish Open victory made the celebration even more special for him. This victory has undoubtedly set a positive tone for MacIntyre as he looks forward to competing at The Open.

With a balanced approach and strong support system, Robert MacIntyre is poised to make an impact at The Open. His recent achievements have not only brought joy but also heightened expectations as he takes on this next challenge.
