Nelly Korda Eyes Major Triumph At Chevron Championship Following Historic Wins

World number one Nelly Korda is setting her sights on clinching a fifth consecutive win and her second major title at the Chevron Championship. Following a triumphant start to the year with a victory at the LPGA Drive On Championship in January, Korda took a seven-week hiatus only to return stronger, securing three wins in just three weeks. This impressive streak includes a notable victory over Ireland's Leona Maguire in the final of the T-Mobile Match Play. Korda's winning run positions her as the first woman to achieve four consecutive starts since Lorena Ochoa in 2008 and marks her as the first to enter a major championship on such a winning streak since Annika Sorenstam.

Korda, aged 25, reflects on the highs and lows of her career, emphasizing the growth and learning that come from both victories and defeats. "In 2021 I went on a run, and then in 2022 and 2023 golf really humbled me," Korda shared, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of sports. Despite the challenges, she remains grateful for the journey, attributing her success to hard work and a deep understanding of herself gained through experiences on and off the green.

Korda Aims for Major Win

With the Chevron Championship on the horizon, Korda has had a week to rest and prepare for the major event at Carlton Woods in Texas. Recalling her performance last year where she narrowly missed the playoff won by Lilia Vu, Korda is determined yet mindful of her health. She recounts feeling exceptionally tired after her recent victories but stresses the importance of rest in her preparation strategy. "I made sure to prioritize my rest," Korda stated, highlighting her family's support in maintaining a balanced approach to training and recovery.

The draw for the first two rounds of the Chevron Championship sees Korda paired with Lilia Vu and Australia's Minjee Lee, setting up an exciting contest among some of golf's leading talents. Additionally, English amateur Lottie Woad, fresh from her victory at the Augusta National Women's Amateur earlier this month, will compete alongside Madelene Sagstrom and Gabriela Ruffels, adding an intriguing dynamic to the tournament.

Korda's journey underscores not only her exceptional talent but also her resilience and dedication to mastering the sport of golf. As she enters the Chevron Championship, all eyes will be on whether she can continue her winning momentum and secure another major title to add to her already impressive career.
