Zero Marks Entry Into Australia With Carbon-Neutral Synthetic Fuel At Motorsport Festival

Zero, a pioneering company in the production of carbon-neutral synthetic fuel, recently made headlines at the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival. This event served as a platform for Zero to demonstrate the practical application of its synthetic fuel in powering high-performance vehicles, notably fueling a Honda CB1100R without any engine modifications. This initiative not only marked Zero's debut in Australia but also underscored the potential for commercial-scale production of synthetic fuel in South Australia.

The company has ambitious plans to set up a synthetic fuel production plant in South Australia by 2026. This facility is projected to produce between 6-12 million liters of carbon-neutral fuel annually, aiming to cut emissions by 60,000 tonnes CO2e per year. The establishment of this plant is expected to generate over 150 construction jobs and up to 30 permanent positions, significantly boosting the local economy. Furthermore, Zero has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the South Australian Government to explore additional investment opportunities.

Zero's leadership team, including CEO Paddy Lowe, boasts extensive experience in Formula 1, aligning perfectly with the motorsport-themed Adelaide Festival. The company's recent collaboration with Stake F1® Team Kick Sauber as Formula 1's first official partner for synthetic fuel highlights its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Zero's innovative approach involves engineering fuel from air and water, offering a customizable solution for various vehicle engines.

The demonstration at the festival featured the Honda CB1100R motorbike, piloted by Grand Prix-winning motorcycle racer Daryl Beattie and former Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill. Their participation showcased the adaptability of Zero's synthetic fuel across different high-performance vehicles. Tim Possingham, the event director of Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, highlighted South Australia's leading role in renewable energy and alternative fuels, positioning it as an ideal location for Zero's manufacturing facility.

Paddy Lowe expressed enthusiasm about joining South Australia's burgeoning green hydrogen economy and commended the Adelaide Motorsport Festival for its role in merging motorsport heritage with future fuel technologies. He emphasized the importance of transitioning to fossil-free solutions while preserving the rich history of racing.
