WHILL Introduces Model Ri: Revolutionizing Urban Mobility For Active Seniors

WHILL, Inc., a leading innovator in the field of electric mobility devices, has recently unveiled its latest product, the Model Ri urban mobility scooter. This new addition is specifically tailored for active seniors, boasting the industry's best turning radius and the unique feature of electronic stability control. The Model Ri's excellence in design has also been recognized with this year's iF Design Award, a globally renowned accolade for design innovation.

According to the World Health Organization, over one billion individuals live with some form of disability, with more than 80 million relying on wheelchairs daily. As the global demographic shifts towards an older population, expected to surpass 2.1 billion people over the age of 60 by 2050, the need for accessible mobility solutions like the Model Ri becomes increasingly crucial.

WHILL's New Model Ri Scooter

The Model Ri is engineered for optimal stability, maneuverability, and portability, making it an ideal choice for navigating both bustling city streets and crowded indoor spaces. Its dual motor system ensures smooth operation, while its tight turning radius leads its class in maximizing mobility. The scooter's design includes independent suspension and a stabilizer for electronic stability control, enhancing safety during tight turns and when overcoming common obstacles such as curbs. Additionally, a steering angle sensor in the Model Ri automatically adjusts speed during turns to maintain user safety and comfort.

WHILL's innovative smartphone app complements the Model Ri by offering personalized experience options like keyless power-on and three distinct Drive Modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. This app also tracks important information such as mileage, battery level from LG Energy Solution, distance traveled, and charge cycles, catering to the fast-paced lifestyles of its users.

"At WHILL, we identified an urgent need for a novel approach to urban mobility for active seniors," stated Satoshi Sugie, co-founder and CEO of WHILL. "The Model Ri is designed to be more than just a scooter; it's a companion that provides stability, ease of maneuverability, and a simple yet appealing design. We are proud to introduce the first scooter accompanied by an application that puts users in complete control of their experience."

The Model Ri distinguishes itself with a simple and minimalistic design that assembles in just 10 seconds. Moving away from conventional bulky scooters, its sleek modern look fits seamlessly into everyday life. Users can personalize their scooters with various color options for the tiller cover while enjoying an ergonomic seat and breathable mesh back for comfort. The scooter is also ISO 13485 certified, ensuring medical-grade safety and quality.

For those interested in experiencing this new technology firsthand, WHILL will showcase the Model Ri scooter at the Medtrade Expo & Conference in Dallas, TX from March 25-28. Further information about the Model Ri can be found on WHILL's website.
