Walmart And Break The Love Double Down On Community Sports Access, Introducing Golf

Walmart is significantly expanding its initiative to make sports more accessible to communities throughout the United States. In a notable move, the retail giant is set to double the number of free pickleball court reservations it offers. This increase, from 125,000 to a substantial 250,000 reservations, is facilitated through its collaboration with Break the Love, a prominent sports booking platform. This partnership not only aims to enhance access to sports facilities and affordable equipment but also emphasizes spending quality time with family and friends through the joy of sports.

Last year, this collaboration saw an impressive performance, surpassing monthly booking targets by over 50%, and was recognized with Modern Retail's Best Brand Collaboration award. Building on this success, Walmart and Break the Love are broadening their horizons by introducing golf into their repertoire of sports offerings. This expansion is in line with Walmart's broader mission to enrich customer experiences and foster community spirit through outdoor activities and park spaces.

Walmart Expands Sports Access

To cater to the growing demand for sports facilities, Walmart plans to offer 250,000 complimentary court reservations. These will be available to customers, Walmart+ members, and associates alike. The partnership leverages proprietary technology that enables customers to secure a free court reservation simply by uploading their Walmart receipts.

In addition to expanding court access, Walmart and Break the Love are launching "Ultimate Park Days." This new initiative will see pop-up events in publicly accessible parks in cities including Dallas, Salt Lake City, and the D.C. metro area during the summer months. These events are designed to promote well-being and community unity through shared sports activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out and purchase top sporting apparel and equipment.

The collaboration will also support 50 meetup events nationwide, featuring professional athletes and local creators to engage consumers in recreational sports activities. Notable athletes such as Jalen Rose, Julie Ertz, and Golden Tate are set to participate in these events, further enhancing the community engagement aspect of the initiative.

To facilitate an improved shopping experience for sports enthusiasts, Break the Love and Walmart have introduced a new shopping page on Walmart.com/PlayForAll. Here, customers can shop for sports equipment and apparel as well as book complimentary courts. Additionally, select Walmart stores in Florida and Georgia are slated to offer pickleball experiences in partnership with suppliers later this year.

Trisha Goyal, founder and CEO of Break Sports, expressed excitement about the partnership's potential to provide greater access to recreational sports activities and foster community engagement across the nation.

Walmart Inc., a global leader in retail, continues its commitment to enhancing people's lives through sustainability efforts, philanthropy, and providing employment opportunities. By expanding access to sports facilities and equipment, Walmart reinforces its dedication to helping people save money while living better lives.
