Wains Transport Achieves Notable Fuel Efficiency Gains With Mercedes-Benz Actros L
Devon-based haulage company Wains Transport has recently enhanced its operational efficiency with the addition of a new Mercedes-Benz Actros L tractor unit to its fleet. This latest acquisition joins another Actros model, setting a new standard in fuel efficiency among the company's diverse fleet of 25 vehicles. Aaron Wain, the Managing Director of Wains Transport, highlighted the superior performance of the Actros models, noting their consistent outperformance in fuel efficiency compared to other vehicles in their lineup.
The newly acquired Actros L 2553 boasts a top-of-the-range GigaSpace cab and is powered by a robust 390 kW (530 hp), 12.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engine. Emphasizing the importance of driver comfort, especially for those who spend the majority of the week on the road, Mr. Wain shared that the Actros L offers a level of comfort akin to a home-from-home. This sentiment is echoed by Chris Bolt, one of Wains' drivers, who specifically requested an Actros L based on his positive experiences with Mercedes-Benz vehicles in previous roles.
Wains Transport has a tradition of customizing its trucks with airbrush artwork, often inspired by favourite movies or boats. The latest Actros L features a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, showcasing a portrait of his iconic 'V for Victory' salute. Additionally, the vehicle has been named Harper Joy after Mr. Wain's niece, continuing the company's practice of naming vehicles after female family members.
The Actros L range is renowned for setting new benchmarks in long-distance haulage and heavy-duty distribution through its combination of proven Mercedes-Benz technology and innovative features. These enhancements include advanced aerodynamics, quieter and better-insulated cabs, and improved seating positions that enhance both comfort and visibility for drivers. Safety features on Wains' new truck include Active Brake Assist 5 with pedestrian recognition and various assistance systems designed to support driver awareness and road safety.
