Vladimir Kush Debuts 'Mother' Painting, Merging Realism With Metaphor At Art Miami

World-renowned artist Vladimir Kush has unveiled his latest painting, "Mother," an oil on canvas measuring 33.25"x 25". The Metaphorical Realist introduced this new artwork during his exhibition at Art Miami. The audience's reaction was notably captivated as they entered Kush's artistic realm during the fair.

From a distance, "Mother" appears to follow Renaissance traditions, resembling the Madonna with Child. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that the subject is a Muslim woman in a hijab, holding a blanket. Instead of a baby, she cradles a hand grenade. This imagery suggests that the grenade has become her "favourite child" in an act of vengeance after losing her family and children.

Kush's 'Mother': Realism Meets Metaphor

The concept for "Mother" originated from a sketch or drawing by Kush with the same title, previously published in his book "Black & White Matters." This initial idea, featuring similar symbolism, eventually evolved into the painting now displayed on Kush's easel and canvas.

Kush is a classically trained artist who adheres to European traditions dating back to Albrecht Durer. He believes that drawing forms the foundation of two-dimensional art. Since the early 2000s, the American cultural scene has embraced Kush and his vision. This acceptance led to the establishment of Metaphorical Realism and the Kush Fine Art brand.

Notably, Kush settled on an exotic island in the Pacific, fulfilling a childhood dream hindered by the Soviet Union's Iron Curtain. Today, he owns several high-end galleries across the United States under the name "Kush Fine Art," with locations in Las Vegas, Laguna Beach, and Miami Beach. His works are also part of permanent exhibitions worldwide.

The internationally acclaimed artist boasts over 400 titles of paintings and limited-edition prints, 80 bronze sculptures, and various other art mediums, including a jewellery line and wearable art collection. Visitors to Kush Fine Art Galleries are welcomed warmly and guided to find pieces that match their unique styles.
