Veranda Club Veterans To Embark On Dream Flights Adventure In Honor Of Their Service
Veranda Club Independent Living and Assisted Living has announced an event that will pay tribute to six of its residents for their military service. This special occasion, set for Friday, April 26 at the Boca Raton Airport, will see these veterans take to the skies in a Boeing Stearman biplane, an aircraft pivotal in training military aviators during the late 1930s and early 1940s. The honored veterans include Sal Bazzano, Robert Cramer, Marvin Friedman, Herb Panzer, Karl Rettig, and Richard Zenna, whose ranks range from Private 1st Class to Staff Sergeant across various branches of the military.
Michael Halpner, Executive Director of Veranda Club, expressed his enthusiasm about the event. "We are delighted to honor these residents who so bravely served our country," he said. This initiative is part of a collaboration with Dream Flights, a non-profit organization committed to giving seniors and military veterans unforgettable flying experiences. The event will not only celebrate these veterans but also allow them to share memories from their service and moments from their Dream Flight.

Dream Flights was established in 2011 by Darryl and Carol Fisher along with the Fisher family. It aims to honor seniors and military veterans by offering them 20-minute flights in restored Boeing Stearman open-cockpit biplanes. This gesture is more than just an adventure; it's a means of bridging generational gaps and fostering a deeper understanding of history and personal sacrifice.
Discovery Senior Living, the umbrella organization for Veranda Club, is renowned for its innovative approach to senior living. With three decades of experience and a portfolio that spans nearly 300 communities across almost 40 states, Discovery Senior Living is among the top five largest senior living operators in the U.S. Its commitment to "Experiential Living" has set new standards in the industry for lifestyle customization and innovation.
The upcoming Dream Flights event is a testament to Discovery Senior Living's dedication to enriching the lives of its residents by recognizing their contributions and providing them with unique experiences. Family members and friends of the honorees are encouraged to join the celebration, bringing along memorabilia from the veterans' service days. Following the flights, there will be opportunities for photos and interviews with the crew and honorees, ensuring that their stories and sacrifices continue to be shared and remembered.
