This funding will be instrumental in developing a 51,000-square-foot hydroponic vertical farm in Westbrook, Maine. The financing package for this venture includes an array of loans and funding mechanisms, highlighting a shift towards project-level financing within the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) industry. Notably, the package comprises loans backed by USDA Rural Development Business & Industry Loan Guarantees and Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Loans. Additionally, it features a Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) loan and funding from the American Rescue Plan (ARPA), with further support from private partners such as Crossroads Impact Corp, Enhanced Capital, and Waterside Commercial Finance.
