Vantage Data Centers Lands $64M For Taiwan's Premier Hyperscale Data Center
In a significant move to bolster its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, Vantage Data Centers has successfully secured a substantial loan to finance its inaugural data center project in Taipei, Taiwan. This development comes as a response to the increasing demand for digital infrastructure in the region, highlighting the strategic importance of Taiwan in the global data center landscape.
Vantage Data Centers has announced the procurement of a US$64 million loan (approximately NT$2 billion) from CTBC Bank and Cathay United Bank. This financial injection is earmarked for the construction of TPE11, the company's first data center campus in Taipei. This transaction is notable for being the first of its kind in Taiwan, involving hyperscale data center financing with a data center operator. It represents Vantage's inaugural collaboration with Cathay United Bank and its third global transaction with CTBC Bank, both of which are leading financial institutions in Taiwan.

The TPE11 campus, which was initially announced in December of the previous year, marks Vantage's eighth development within its APAC portfolio. Currently under construction and slated for completion by mid-2024, this facility is set to offer 16MW of IT capacity over a sprawling 215,000 square foot area. Upon completion, TPE11 will cater to the needs of hyperscalers, cloud providers, and large enterprises, positioning itself as a pivotal digital infrastructure hub in the region.
A Milestone in Greenfield Data Center Financing
Joel Cheah, CFO of Vantage Data Centers in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed pride in leading the first greenfield data center project financing in Taiwan. Cheah acknowledged CTBC Bank's ongoing support and welcomed Cathay United Bank's participation in this groundbreaking financial venture. This collaboration underscores the growing significance of Taiwan as a key player in the regional data center market and highlights Vantage's commitment to expanding its footprint in strategically important locations.
The securing of this loan not only facilitates Vantage's expansion into Taiwan but also underscores the confidence that leading Taiwanese banks have in the company's data center platform. As digital infrastructure continues to be a critical component of global connectivity and data management, initiatives like these play a crucial role in meeting the burgeoning demand for data center services across the Asia-Pacific region.
