General Motors Kicks Off 2024 With A 6% Rise In US Retail Sales

In a recent update from Detroit, General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) has reported a 6% increase in retail sales year-over-year, with a total of 594,233 vehicles delivered in the U.S. during the first quarter of 2024. Despite this growth, the overall vehicle deliveries saw a slight decline of 1.5% compared to the previous year, attributed mainly to reduced fleet deliveries. Amidst these figures, GM has maintained its dominant position in the market segments of full-size pickups, full-size SUVs, and affordable small SUVs. Additionally, the company's efforts to ramp up production of Ultium Platform electric vehicles (EVs) are progressing as planned.

Marissa West, GM's Senior Vice President and President of North America, expressed satisfaction with the company's performance. "Our brands are all performing well," she stated. West highlighted GM's achievement in gaining retail market share year-over-year, bolstered by a strong product mix and pricing strategy. She also noted that inventory levels are well-positioned for the upcoming spring season and that production and deliveries of Ultium Platform EVs, particularly led by the Cadillac LYRIQ, are on an upward trajectory.
