UK Order Books Open For The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer
Volkswagen has officially launched its first-ever battery electric estate vehicle in the UK, the ID.7 Tourer, marking a significant milestone in the automotive industry. Available for purchase from 18 April, the ID.7 Tourer Pro Match is the initial variant hitting the market, with a starting price of £52,240 RRP OTR. This introduction is part of Volkswagen's broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle (EV) offerings, with the ID.7 Tourer Pro S and a high-performance GTX version expected to be released in the summer.
The ID.7 Tourer stands out as a stylish estate version of the ID.7 fastback and is among the first electric estates in the upper mid-sized class available in the UK. It boasts an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.24, enhancing its energy efficiency by reducing air resistance at speed. The vehicle is equipped with a 77 kWh battery in the Pro Match variant, offering a forecasted range of 374 miles and supporting charging speeds of up to 175 kW. The forthcoming Pro S model will feature an 86 kWh battery, projecting an increased range of approximately 425 miles and up to 200 kW charging capabilities.
Exterior features of the standard ID.7 Tourer include LED headlights and tail light clusters, roof rails, diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels, and an illuminated Volkswagen logo at both front and rear ends. The estate's spacious design allows for up to 605 litres of luggage capacity with five passengers onboard, expanding to 1,714 litres with rear seats folded down.
Inside, the ID.7 Tourer promises high levels of comfort with premium materials, intelligent automatic air conditioning with smart air vents, and optional ergoActive heated front seats featuring pressure point massage. Volkswagen's new Wellness app enhances occupant well-being by adjusting various vehicle functions through preconfigured programmes. Additional interior features include keyless locking and starting, a luggage partition net, 30-colour ambient lighting, a heated multi-function steering wheel, Discover Pro navigation system, an enhanced augmented-reality head-up display, and a rear-view camera.
An optional panoramic sunroof with smart glass technology allows for electronic opacity adjustments. The estate also introduces a new dash and infotainment architecture seen first on the ID.7 fastback, featuring a high-definition 15-inch screen and Volkswagen's latest operating system. The new IDA voice assistant facilitates control over many vehicle functions through natural language and voice commands.
Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK, expressed enthusiasm for the ID.7 Tourer's market introduction, highlighting its comfort, space, and impressive range as key attributes that have already garnered positive early reviews.
