NASCAR Legends Stewart And Hagan Excel At NHRA Arizona Nationals
Tony Stewart, celebrated NASCAR Hall of Fame driver, recently showcased his versatility and skill in the NHRA Arizona Nationals, advancing to the semifinals in the Top Fuel category. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Stewart, as it was his first time securing Top Fuel round wins in his third NHRA national event. He achieved victory over Brittany Force and Billy Torrence before narrowly losing to Justin Ashley with a time of 3.885 seconds at a speed of 316.45 mph, slightly behind Ashley's 3.844 seconds and 323.74 mph.
Similarly, Matt Hagan, another esteemed NASCAR Hall of Fame driver, demonstrated his prowess over the weekend. Hagan reached the runner-up position in the Funny Car final at the rain-delayed Winternationals against John Force. Despite a close competition, Hagan was edged out by Force at Firebird Motorsports Park. Additionally, Hagan participated in the Arizona Nationals eliminations but fell short of advancing to the quarterfinals after a tight race against Daniel Wilkerson.
Both Stewart and Hagan, who previously clinched victories in their respective classes in Las Vegas last year, are set to compete in the Four-Wide Nationals from April 12-14 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In preparation for Sunday's eliminations, Stewart's team, TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT, made crucial adjustments to the car's settings, contributing to their success. Stewart expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming race in Las Vegas, highlighting that winning one round has significantly lifted their spirits.
Hagan reflected on the challenging weekend and conveyed his anticipation to leverage the insights gained for future competitions. The NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas promises excitement with nitro qualifying rounds scheduled for April 12 and 13, leading up to the final eliminations on April 14. Both drivers are keen on reclaiming their winning positions at the Strip, where they previously triumphed in 2023.
