Thai Night Celebrates The Resurgence Of Thailand's Entertainment Industry At FILMART 2024

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government has officially announced the return of Thai Night Hong Kong, set to take place on March 11, 2024. This event, carrying the theme "Inspiring Thailand," is a highlight of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART). After a pause of five years due to the global pandemic, Thai Night Hong Kong is back to celebrate the significant strides made by the Thai entertainment industry.

Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi will preside over the event, which aims to present Thailand's achievements in entertainment to an international audience and foster new collaborative opportunities. The DITP Director-General, Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, emphasized the growing global popularity of Thai content and the unique platform Thai Night offers for international film executives and creators to engage with Thailand's leading film professionals.

Thai Night Shines at FILMART 2024

The 2024 edition of Thai Night and the Thailand Pavilion at FILMART will feature 27 distinguished Thai film companies divided into three categories: Film Production and Distribution, Television Content and Formats, and Production and Post-Production Services. Companies such as Black Dragon Entertainment, GDH 559, GMM TV, and The Monk Studio are among those participating.

Beyond presenting a wide array of content, the event will also highlight Thailand's growing reputation as a prime filming location. The Thailand Film Office reported a record-breaking 466 film and TV productions hosted in 2023, with total production expenditures reaching $186 million. This surge is attributed to Thailand's breathtaking landscapes, skilled workforce, talented actors and crew, advanced infrastructure, and film-friendly policies.

In an effort to further boost its appeal as a filming destination, the Thai government increased its film incentive program in 2022 to cover 20% of qualifying expenditures. An additional cash rebate of up to 5% is also available for productions hiring key Thai personnel or utilizing local post-production services.

From March 11 to March 14, 2024, attendees at FILMART are encouraged to visit the Thailand Pavilion at booth 1C-A13 in the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre to explore potential collaborations with Thai entertainment companies or acquire Thai content.
