2024 Taipei 101 Run Up: Registration Opens For Tower Running Challenge
TAIPEI, TAIWAN – The city buzzed with anticipation as the 2024 TAIPEI 101 Run Up Towerrunning World Championships officially opened its registration on March 15, following a ceremonial event on March 14. This year's vertical marathon, set to challenge participants on May 4, promises an exhilarating climb up 91 floors, encompassing 2,046 steps and a vertical ascent of 390 meters. The event, themed "We are the Champions," invites athletes worldwide to test their limits in what is known as one of the globe's most demanding vertical marathons.
At the heart of the sign-up launch ceremony were notable figures including Runner Chao Jui-chuan, Taipei 101 President Lillian Chu, Minister Without Portfolio Chang Jing-sen, Taipei 101 Chairman Chang Hsueh-shun, Investment Media Chairman Hsieh Chin-ho, and CTCB SVP Lin Hui-chun. Their presence underscored the event's significance and the collaborative effort behind its organization.

For the sixth consecutive year, CTBC Bank has partnered with TAIPEI 101 to sponsor the Run Up, further enhancing the race's appeal by offering awards in the Self-Challenge Section. Competitors paying with CTBC credit or debit cards will enjoy a 10% discount on entry fees. Additionally, CTBC pledges to donate 5% of registration fees to social welfare initiatives through its Charity Foundation. In a bid to promote sustainability, Nan Ya Plastics Corp. returns as a partner to provide eco-friendly recycled functional jerseys for runners.
This year's race will accommodate up to 5,000 participants across four categories: TWA Elite, General Elite, Self-Challenge, and Team. The TWA Elite category presents an extra challenge as runners must first conquer the climb to the 91st floor before embarking on a second round up to the 59th floor. This format is designed to elevate the competition's intensity and attract top-tier athletes from around the world.
Participants will also benefit from a special offer – a 20% discount on tickets to the TAIPEI 101 observatory. A discount code will be provided upon registration for a one-time purchase of up to four tickets through the TAIPEI 101 website, valid until June 30, 2024. This initiative not only rewards competitors but also encourages them to share the breathtaking views from atop one of the world's tallest buildings with family and friends.
The TAIPEI 101 Run Up Towerrunning World Championships continues to stand as a testament to human endurance and perseverance. With its challenging course and supportive community, it offers an unparalleled opportunity for athletes to prove themselves as champions in their own right. As participants gear up for this monumental challenge, all eyes will be on Taipei this May for an event that promises both physical trials and triumphant achievements.
