Sustainable Development Indicators Highlight Enhanced Quality Of Life Across Madinah Neighborhoods

Significant strides have been made in Madinah's neighbourhoods towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under Saudi Vision 2030. According to a report by Al Madinah Region Development Authority, 66 neighbourhoods have shown strong results in housing, contributing to making Madinah inclusive and sustainable. Over one-third of these areas scored above 95% on the adequate housing index.

The report also highlighted that 59 neighbourhoods excelled in "effective urban planning," with an increase in per capita green space. Additionally, 95% of buildings in Madinah are constructed using modern and durable systems. This reflects the city's commitment to sustainable development and infrastructure improvement.

Improved Quality of Life in Madinah

In terms of "sustainable urban transport," 54 neighbourhoods performed well, with 96.2% of residents satisfied with road quality and traffic conditions. In 21 neighbourhoods, satisfaction reached a perfect score of 100%. This indicates a high level of contentment among residents regarding transportation infrastructure.

Progress has also been noted in energy access, with the electricity grid covering 99.5% of Madinah, including full coverage in 53 neighbourhoods. Telecommunications services achieved complete coverage in 50 neighbourhoods, ensuring connectivity for residents across the region.

Water and sanitation services are nearing full coverage as well. Public water networks serve all residents in 45 neighbourhoods, while wastewater services cover all households in 22 areas. These developments are crucial for improving living standards and public health.

Educational services received high satisfaction ratings from residents in 37 neighbourhoods, with schools available at all levels in 52 areas. Healthcare accessibility is also strong, with hospitals fully covering 48 neighbourhoods, aligning with the SDG target of universal health coverage.

Cultural and sports activities saw high participation levels from residents in 35 neighbourhoods. Most other areas showed moderate engagement, though five recorded lower involvement rates. These activities contribute to community well-being and social cohesion.

Madinah's progress towards the SDGs under Saudi Vision 2030 is evident across various sectors. The improvements in housing, urban planning, transport, energy, telecommunications, water services, education, healthcare, and community activities highlight a comprehensive approach to sustainable development.
