SoDo Main Street District Unveils New United Arts Grant Program To Enhance Community Vibrancy

Orlando's SoDo Main Street District is experiencing a significant boost this spring, thanks to a new initiative aimed at enhancing community vibrancy. The initiative, titled "The HeART of SoDo," is a result of a partnership between the SoDo District, United Arts, and Orlando Credit Union. This marks a pioneering moment as SoDo District becomes the first in Central Florida to receive and kickstart this program. Scheduled to run through late May, the program aims to spotlight the need for community support towards local businesses that have been adversely affected by the ongoing South Orange Avenue infrastructure improvements.

The infrastructure enhancements, while beneficial, have undeniably impacted the business landscape in SoDo. The district is taking proactive steps to mitigate these effects and drive greater community engagement towards this vital area of Orlando. "Vibrancy is the keyword here. The SoDo community is vibrant in every way – with active neighborhoods, gorgeous parks, and diverse community makeup. SoDo is a living demonstration of a meaningful urban setting adding value to Orlando," remarked David Duncan, VP of Marketing at Orlando Credit Union.

SoDo District Launches Arts Grant

Misty Heath, the Executive Director of SoDo Main Street district, emphasized the uniqueness of SoDo and its contribution to the extended community. "We are thrilled to bring this program to life, bring more performing arts and artists to unsuspecting places, while also drawing attention to these community-minded businesses who need our continued support," Heath stated. This sentiment is echoed by April Gavin, owner of Clean Eatz in SoDo, who despite facing challenges due to construction, has felt unwavering support from the community.

Commitment to Shared Prosperity and Inclusive Engagement

"Main Streets are for everyone," Heath adds, highlighting Orlando’s commitment to creating places of shared prosperity, equal access to opportunity, and inclusive engagement. The Main Street Program embodies this vision through its actions and programs, aiming to foster a sense of belonging and support for all members of the community.

The initiative not only seeks to bring more performing arts and artists into unexpected places but also aims to shine a light on businesses that play a crucial role in building a vibrant community spirit. As SoDo navigates through the challenges posed by construction, initiatives like "The HeART of SoDo" play an essential role in ensuring that the district remains a lively and engaging part of Orlando.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow SoDo’s social media channels for updates on performance schedules, locations, and special offers for guests. This initiative represents a significant step towards supporting local businesses and enhancing the cultural fabric of Orlando's SoDo District.
