Powerplus Group's Subsidiary Wins Mining Rights For Copper, Gold, And Manganese In Papua New Guinea

In a significant development in the mining sector, Niugini Resources and Investments Pte Ltd (NRI), a subsidiary of Powerplus Group Pte Ltd, has been granted a substantial mining concession in late 2023. This concession, awarded on 31 October 2023, encompasses an area as vast as Singapore itself, covering approximately 700 square kilometers across 202 sub-blocks. This strategic move marks a pivotal moment for NRI, positioning it as a key player in the exploration and development of copper, gold, and manganese resources.

The decision to award this concession followed a rigorous evaluation process, including a Warden's Hearing on 30 August 2022 and thorough deliberation by the Mining Advisory Council under the Mineral Resources Authority of Papua New Guinea. Initial investigations have already unveiled significant deposits of copper, gold, and manganese, with further feasibility studies set to pave the way for full-scale operations by the end of 2024.

Mining Rights Awarded to Powerplus Subsidiary

Powerplus Group, NRI's parent company, is renowned globally for manufacturing heavy construction and mining equipment. With over fifty years of industry experience, Powerplus Group has supplied equipment to major mining operations worldwide, including in Australia, Chile, Georgia, Ghana, Indonesia, South Africa, and Tanzania. This venture into mineral exploration is seen as a natural progression for Powerplus Group, leveraging its extensive expertise and equipment capabilities.

NRI has assembled a team of specialists from Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea to conduct comprehensive studies on the mineral reserves within the concession located in Rigo District. Utilizing advanced mineral systems concepts and analytical techniques, NRI aims not only to explore the current concession but also to secure additional licences for further exploration.

Mr Chris Wamugl, NRI's chief geologist, reported that the mineral composition found within the concession is highly exceptional. Beyond copper, gold, and manganese, other minerals such as silver, cobalt, and nickel have also been identified. Samples of these minerals have been sent for laboratory testing to ascertain their grades.

Powerplus Group has expressed its commitment to responsible mining practices. CEO Mr Marcus Ong emphasized the company's dedication to minimizing environmental impact and enhancing the quality of life for local communities. The project is expected to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth in the surrounding areas.

The large scale of this project opens opportunities for joint ventures with NRI to expedite the mine's development. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out for more information on collaboration possibilities.

This venture not only signifies a major step forward for Powerplus Group and NRI but also represents a significant contribution to the mining industry. With its extensive resources and commitment to sustainable practices, NRI is poised to make a lasting impact on the global minerals market.
