SEPA Announces 2024 Power Player Awards Winners In Energy Sector

The Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) has recently unveiled the recipients of the 2024 SEPA Power Player Awards, a prestigious recognition celebrating leadership and innovation in the energy sector across the United States. This year's awards spotlighted achievements within SEPA's five key areas of interest: resilience, transportation, energy storage, emerging technology, policy, and notably, energy equity. A rigorous selection process ensued after more than 120 nominations were submitted, culminating in the selection of six distinguished winners and 17 commendable finalists. These innovators were duly recognized at a celebratory event in Coronado, California.

Among the awardees, Green Mountain Power of Vermont, the state's largest investor-owned utility, was honored with the Resilience Power Player of the Year award. Their efforts to bolster grid resiliency, safety, and equity set them apart. In the realm of transportation electrification, NYC School Bus Umbrella Services alongside Mobility House received accolades for their Electrifying School Buses in the Bronx initiative, which aims to shift school transportation to electric buses.

The collaboration between Salt River Project and CMBlu Energy on the Desert Blume long-duration energy storage pilot project earned them the Energy Storage Power Player of the Year award. This initiative is notable for its use of non-flammable, recyclable battery technology. Meanwhile, Adaptix.Grid by Sensewaves and AEP Texas were recognized as Emerging Technology Power Player of the Year for leveraging artificial intelligence-powered analytics to improve grid reliability and facilitate smart operations.

Southern California Edison was awarded the Policy Power Player of the Year for their proactive advocacy in support of California's clean energy objectives. Lastly, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District was celebrated with the Equity Power Player of the Year award for their commitment to zero carbon emissions by 2030 and their emphasis on inclusivity and equity.
