Schneider Electric Marathon De Paris Leads With Sustainability And Social Equality
Paris, France – In a significant move towards promoting sustainability and inclusivity, Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has reaffirmed its commitment to societal values through its ongoing sponsorship of the Marathon de Paris. Scheduled for April 7, 2024, this event is not just a race but a global gathering aimed at fostering a sustainable and equitable future. Since 2013, Schneider Electric has been at the forefront of this initiative, leveraging the marathon as a platform to accelerate the shift towards a cleaner world and underscore the vital role of sports in community building.
The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris has become synonymous with pushing for environmental responsibility and inclusivity in sports. The company's dedication to sustainability is evident in its efforts to minimize the marathon's environmental footprint. Initiatives include recycling programs for clothes, food waste, and other materials collected during the event. Moreover, since 2019, the marathon has achieved a milestone by offsetting 100% of its carbon emissions through contributions to the Livelihoods Fund, which aids rural communities in Kenya.

Chris Leong, Schneider Electric’s Chief Marketing Officer, highlighted the essence of the marathon, stating, "Taking part in the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is a journey of perseverance and endurance where we celebrate each runner’s dedication, determination, and resilience." He further emphasized the shared vision with A.S.O., the organizing body, in making the marathon a beacon for sustainable and equitable sporting events worldwide.
This year's marathon anticipates around 55,000 participants from various corners of the globe, including 7,700 Schneider Electric customers, partners, and employees. The event aligns with Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit Paris slated for April 3-4 at Pavilion 4, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The summit offers an opportunity for attendees to engage with industry leaders and innovators either in person or via livestream.
In addition to the main marathon event, Schneider Electric sponsors the Paris Run for All on April 6. This 4km charity run is inclusive of participants across all abilities and raises funds for sporting activities for children with disabilities. The initiative is open to individuals aged 12 and above, encouraging widespread participation.
Furthermore, the Marathon de Paris champions gender equality by offering equal prize money to top male and female runners. In a progressive move, the women's race commences before the men's race to ensure live broadcast visibility for all winners as they cross the finish line.
The partnership between Schneider Electric and A.S.O., along with their collective efforts towards sustainability and inclusivity in sports, sets an inspiring example for other global events. Through initiatives like these, Schneider Electric continues to lead by example in its commitment to building a healthier, more inclusive future for generations to come.
