Saudi And Malaysian Ministers Discuss Boosting Trade And Economic Partnerships

On Monday, in a significant meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Saudi Minister of Commerce. This high-profile gathering, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations, also saw the participation of key figures including Vice Minister of Commerce Dr. Eman bin Habbas Al-Mutairi, Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia Mesaad Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Sulaim, and Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz. The discussions were centered around enhancing cooperation, implementing joint government programs, and exploring partnership opportunities in priority sectors.

Dr. Al-Qasabi's visit to Malaysia, leading a delegation of 44 officials from 20 government entities and 24 private sector entities, underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their economic partnership. This working visit, which commenced on Sunday, aims to boost bilateral trade in goods and services and launch the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council. The delegation's agenda included meetings with several Malaysian ministers and key officials to discuss various collaborative efforts.

Enhancing Saudi-Malaysian Trade Ties

Throughout his two-day visit, Dr. Al-Qasabi engaged in discussions with Malaysian dignitaries such as Minister of Higher Education Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir; Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Chang Lih Kang; and Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob. These meetings focused on cooperation between the two countries, facilitation provided to businesses, encouragement of exports, enhancing capabilities for global market access, and collaboration in innovation, emerging technologies, research programs, and e-commerce.

The launch event of the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council was a highlight of Dr. Al-Qasabi's visit. During this event, he emphasized the transformative impact of Saudi Vision 2030 on the Saudi economy and highlighted the close trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Dr. Al-Qasabi pointed out the significant opportunities available for expanding and diversifying these relations as Saudi Arabia aims to become a global hub for trade and logistical services.
