Rop Van Mierlo Teams Up With H&M For An Art-Infused Kidswear Collection

H&M is delighted to announce a captivating collaboration with Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo, known for his "Wild Animals" project. This unique kidswear line, launching on April 4, 2024, showcases vibrant prints and hand-drawn patterns inspired by van Mierlo's watercolour paintings of animals. The collection, which includes items for both kids and babies, features modern designs across a range of clothing such as T-shirts, sweaters, shorts, tie-detail dresses, and a wrap skort, as well as colourful swimwear and accessories.

Rop van Mierlo's artistic journey began with the creation of the Tiger painting in 2008, aiming to capture the essence of wild animals through a wet-on-wet watercolour technique. Over the years, this concept has evolved into an extensive collection of artwork. Van Mierlo expressed his enthusiasm about making his art accessible to a broader audience through this affordable H&M collection.

The collaboration highlights five of van Mierlo's paintings, including a jaguar, zebra, horse, two baby goats, and a butterfly. It also introduces new designs featuring hand-painted stripes and tie-dye-style prints. Organic cotton T-shirts adorned with these unique animal paintings stand out as the collection's highlight. Additionally, the line includes swimwear and accessories like a zebra-print tote bag and bandana that are sure to capture the imagination of families.

About Rop van Mierlo: A Dutch graphic designer and artist based in Amsterdam, Rop van Mierlo is celebrated for his distinctive style that imbues his work with a dreamlike quality. His exploration into the human desire to control nature led to the creation of "Wild Animals" during his time at Design Academy Eindhoven. Van Mierlo's technique allows for the spontaneous blending of colours on wet paper, resulting in captivatingly fluffy depictions of animals.
