Over 400 Historic Race Cars To Mark Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion's 50th Anniversary
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is gearing up for a monumental event this summer, as it prepares to host the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion from August 14-17. This year marks the Golden Anniversary of what is considered by many as the inception of historic racing events. The celebration promises to bring together an exceptional collection of period-correct, race-proven vehicles to the scenic hills of Monterey, California.
The selection process for this year's event was rigorous, with a seven-person, all-volunteer Advisory Council working alongside the sanctioning body, Historic SportsCar Racing, to choose the finest entries. More than 400 cars have been accepted across 13 race groups, showcasing the rich history and evolution of motorsport. Notably, the selection excludes the beloved pre-1920 "Ragtime Racers," highlighting the focus on vehicles with significant racing heritage.
Among the standout entries are several iconic cars, including the Williams FW07B driven by Alan Jones to his Formula One World Championship victory, and the dominant 1991 AAR/Toyota Eagle Mk III GTP, piloted by Juan Manuel Fangio II to win an impressive 14 out of 23 races. The event will also feature a special Motul Golden Anniversary Display, curated to take visitors on a journey through 50 years of historic racing achievements.
This display will feature legendary race cars from manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, and Ford, celebrating racing icons such as Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby. Barry Toepke, director of heritage events and a veteran of 35 years at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, emphasized the uniqueness of this assembly. Vehicles from private collections, automakers, and museums will come together for a tribute to the event's founders and its enduring legacy.
Tickets for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion are now available for purchase. Options range from single-day passes to VIP packages offering exclusive access to the Legends Club or pit row suites. With free admission for children under 15 and limited availability on premium offerings, enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their tickets early.
