Roadtrip: The New App Helping UK Drivers Find Cheaper Fuel Routes

BIRMINGHAM, UK – In the face of rising fuel prices across the United Kingdom, with a more than 40% increase since 2020, British motorists are finding themselves under financial strain each time they refuel. A new solution has emerged in the form of 'Roadtrip', a fuel cost calculator app that has recently launched in the UK to widespread acclaim. Initially introduced in New Zealand by Ben Robertson and Emory Fierlinger, the app quickly climbed to the top position on the NZ App Store, boasting downloads from one in every fifty New Zealanders. Its success stems from its unique feature of providing precise petrol cost estimates using just a car's number plate.

Roadtrip's arrival in the UK comes at a critical time, coinciding with the launch of the country's new Pumpwatch fuel scheme. The decision to introduce the app to the UK market was spurred by a viral TikTok video, where a comment about the need for such an app in the UK garnered over 3000 likes. "That was a clear signal of the strong demand for our app in the UK," stated Fierlinger. After witnessing this demand, the founders expedited the development of a UK version, which is now available for download.

Cut Fuel Costs with Roadtrip App

The app simplifies the process of calculating fuel costs for any given journey. Users need only enter their destination and car registration plate; Roadtrip then provides an instant calculation of petrol costs based on the vehicle's specific model and local fuel prices along the route. Additionally, it highlights the ten most affordable petrol stations along your path and suggests the most cost-effective route to take.

Roadtrip's utility extends beyond route planning; it also aids users in locating the cheapest petrol or diesel prices nearby, drawing from real-time data across over 4000 stations in the UK. This data is sourced directly from major fuel retailers such as BP, Tesco, Shell, Sainsbury’s, and others, ensuring accuracy and timeliness through updates from the UK Government's Pumpwatch scheme.

Moreover, Roadtrip offers international functionality, catering to drivers across Europe and those using rental cars abroad. Whether you're driving in the US, navigating European streets, or exploring New Zealand's scenic routes, Roadtrip provides valuable insights into fuel costs. "Our mission is to help drivers make informed decisions about their travel costs, ultimately leading to massive savings over time," Fierlinger emphasized.

The app is available for free on both iPhone and Android devices. It stands as a testament to innovation in response to global challenges like rising living costs. For more details on Roadtrip and to download the app, interested users are encouraged to visit Roadtrip’s official website.
