Rivers Are Life Joins Forces With Waterhaul To Equip Global River Cleanup Efforts

Today marks a significant step forward in the global effort to combat water pollution, as Rivers are Life announces a strategic partnership with Waterhaul, a pioneering U.K.-based organization known for converting ocean plastics into meaningful products. This collaboration aims to enhance waterway protection and encourage exploration worldwide.

A recent survey by SAVANTA, commissioned by Rivers are Life, revealed that 59% of participants are keen on cleaning their local rivers in 2024. To transform this enthusiasm into tangible action, Rivers are Life and Waterhaul have joined forces to introduce co-branded cleanup kits. These kits, crafted from 100% recycled materials, are designed for durability and long-term use without harming the environment.

Partnership Boosts River Cleanups

The cleanup kits feature upcycled bags made from recycled sails, with each bag boasting a unique design due to the varied nature of the sails used. This initiative addresses the issue of retired sails, which often end up in landfills. Additionally, the kits include a 32" foldable litter picker made from recycled ocean plastic and other sustainable materials, alongside a litter picking bag hoop constructed from recycled fishing gear.

These innovative kits will be deployed at various Rivers are Life-sponsored events, including the Baltimore Floatilla event and Trout Unlimited Expeditions in Wyoming. These initiatives aim to raise awareness about water pollution and inspire younger generations to protect and advocate for aquatic ecosystems.

Katie Horning, Director of Marketing at Rivers are Life, expressed excitement about the partnership with Waterhaul, emphasizing the goal to empower and equip their network with effective tools for cleanup efforts. Kieran Hill, Head of Sales at Waterhaul, also highlighted the significance of repurposing harmful fishing gear into equipment that combats plastic pollution in rivers and oceans.

The Rivers are Life x Waterhaul cleanup kits are currently available for online presale, with all profits supporting river impact projects globally. For those interested in joining the movement or learning how Rivers are Life can support local cleanups, further information is available on their website.
