Abu Dhabi Hosts Lecture On 'Blessed Money' To Emphasize Zakat's Role In Ramadan
In a significant event held in Abu Dhabi on March 25, the General Women's Union, in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, organized a lecture titled "Blessed Money" as part of its activities celebrating the holy month of Ramadan. The lecture was delivered by Senior Preacher Moza Ahmed Mashari Al Shamsi, who eloquently discussed the vital role of Zakat in Islam, emphasizing its status as a fundamental pillar and divine obligation aimed at fostering moral values and social solidarity among community members.
Al Shamsi highlighted the encouragement Ramadan provides for Muslims to fulfill their Zakat, especially those accustomed to performing it during this auspicious period. She pointed out that Zakat significantly contributes to societal cohesion, mutual support, and empathy among individuals, reinforcing Islam's emphasis on social welfare and the care for the needy as core components of the faith.

Furthermore, Al Shamsi stressed the importance of promptness in worship, particularly in discharging the duty of Zakat without delay. She cited divine encouragement for hastening towards good deeds and fulfilling religious obligations promptly to achieve the highest ranks and rewards from Allah. Delaying Zakat, she warned, could lead to negative consequences due to the accumulation of responsibilities, potentially causing individuals to falter in their religious duties.
The lecture also shed light on the virtues of charity beyond Zakat. Al Shamsi explained that Islam strongly advocates for charitable acts, promising great rewards and high status with Allah for those who give. She elaborated on how charity shields against misfortunes, elevates calamities, preserves health, extinguishes sins, and ensures forgiveness. Moreover, she reassured that charity does not decrease wealth; instead, it is the foundation of blessings and prosperity.
Al Shamsi concluded by emphasizing that charity serves as protection from punishment and a pathway to paradise. It reflects strong faith and positive regard for Allah since humans are naturally inclined towards wealth accumulation. Generosity in giving charity thus stands as a testament to one's true faith.
This event underscores the profound significance of Zakat and charity within Islam, particularly during Ramadan, highlighting their role in enhancing social welfare and spiritual growth among Muslims.
