Prodrive Celebrates Four Decades Of Racing Excellence At Classic Nostalgia 2024
The motorsport world is gearing up for a spectacular celebration at the Classic Nostalgia weekend, scheduled for July 20-21, 2024. This event is set to honor Prodrive's four decades of achievements in motorsport. Since its inception in 1984, Prodrive has been instrumental in the development of iconic race and rally cars, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. The highlight of the weekend will be the showcase of Prodrive cars at the renowned Shelsley Walsh hillclimb, offering fans a rare opportunity to see these legendary vehicles in action.
Prodrive's collaboration with Subaru during the 1990s and early 2000s stands out as a pivotal era for the company. This partnership led to numerous victories, including Colin McRae's memorable win at the 1995 RAC Rally. The team also supported Richard Burns and Petter Solberg in securing drivers' championships. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Impreza WRC97 rally car, Prodrive introduced the P25, a modern reinterpretation of the classic Impreza road car, limited to just 25 units.
Prodrive's success isn't limited to Subaru; the company has also achieved significant victories with Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, and Aston Martin across various motorsport disciplines. From its first win at the Qatar International Rally in 1984 with Saeed Al-Hajri driving a Porsche 911 SC RS to championship victories in GT racing and the FIA World Endurance Championship, Prodrive's legacy is unmatched.
The Classic Nostalgia weekend will not only feature Prodrive's illustrious history but also include an array of competing Group A, Group B, and WRC rally cars. A special tribute will be paid to Steve Davies, founder of Ralli 22. Attendees can also look forward to seeing the Hesketh 308 Formula 1 car and NASCAR machinery in action. The event will encompass a hillclimb competition, the Classic & Sports Car Concours, and various off-track entertainments.
For an enhanced experience, the Startline VIP Club package offers guests VIP hospitality and exclusive access to a VIP-only enclosure. Car clubs benefit from discounted admission tickets and a reserved area for gatherings of 10 cars or more. Additionally, trade stands provide an opportunity for businesses to display their products and services. Emphasizing its commitment to community support, the event will partner with the Midlands Air Ambulance as its charity beneficiary.
This celebration promises to be a memorable occasion for motorsport enthusiasts and a fitting tribute to Prodrive's storied legacy in racing and rallying. With a blend of historical reverence and modern innovation, the Classic Nostalgia weekend is poised to be a landmark event in the motorsport calendar.
