Porsche Enhances Zuffenhausen Plant With MHP FleetExecuter System

In a significant move to enhance production efficiency and flexibility, Porsche has introduced a centralised fleet management system, MHP FleetExecuter, at its Zuffenhausen plant. This initiative marks a first in the company's history, integrating a cloud-based solution into its existing IT infrastructure to automate the logistics process. The MHP FleetExecuter is set to manage the coordination of lifts, gates, and systems within the plant, including the operation of 27 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) that are responsible for performing up to 1,600 material transports daily across a 750-metre distance.

The AGVs are designed to navigate through complex environments, including high-bay racks, automatic gates, a double lift system, and intersections with third-party systems. The implementation of this software is expected to boost efficiency by up to 20%, offering enhanced transparency and resilience on the shop floor. Additionally, it promises reliable system availability and cost reductions through optimised energy management processes. Porsche's ultimate aim with this deployment is to secure a rapid return on investment while planning further roll-outs for the manufacturing of the Taycan model.

Porsche's New Fleet Management System

The MHP subsidiary is tasked with consulting, implementation, product development, service, and support for the fleet management system. Before its implementation, the software underwent digital modelling, simulation, and physical testing to ensure its effectiveness. Already operational at plants 2 and 3 in Zuffenhausen, plans are in place to deploy the MHP FleetExecuter in ten more projects in the future.

This transition signifies MHP's evolution from a consulting firm to a full-service IT and software provider. Since spring 2023, MHP has been offering software-as-a-service solutions as part of its strategy to provide ready-to-use software products that facilitate process digitisation for companies. The MHP FleetExecuter is a key component of the new Industrial Cloud Solutions (ICS) portfolio. With 27 years of experience in digital transformation services for the mobility and manufacturing sectors, MHP operates internationally with subsidiaries in the USA, UK, Romania, and China.

As a subsidiary of Porsche AG, MHP's move towards offering comprehensive IT and software solutions reflects a broader trend in the automotive industry towards digitisation and efficiency optimisation. The deployment of such advanced systems not only enhances operational capabilities but also sets new standards for manufacturing processes within the sector.
