Planet Water Foundation And Partners Tackle Water Poverty On World Water Day
On World Water Day, Planet Water Foundation, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the global water crisis, announced its collaboration with various corporate partners to tackle water poverty. This initiative has led to the installation of community water filtration systems in schools across rural communities in Cambodia, India, Mexico, the Philippines, and Vietnam. These areas struggle with access to clean drinking water, a fundamental yet unmet need for many.
The cornerstone of these efforts is the AquaTower, a gravity-based water filtration system designed by Planet Water Foundation. This innovative system transforms non-potable water from wells and ponds into safe, drinkable water. It effectively removes harmful bacteria and pollutants, providing a sustainable source of clean water for up to 1,800 people per installation. Alongside the AquaTower deployments, Planet Water also emphasizes the importance of water-health and hygiene education to promote healthy habits within these communities.

A critical aspect of ensuring these projects' long-term success is Planet Water Foundation's commitment to sustainability. The organization conducts regular monitoring visits for four years post-deployment to guarantee the systems continue to operate efficiently.
Significant support from Planet Water’s corporate partners has been instrumental in these initiatives. In the Philippines, Watts Water Technologies and Xylem have backed projects in Quezon Province, while Capital One Philippines has contributed in Greater Manila. In Vietnam and Cambodia, communities have received support from Watts Water Technologies and SFA Group, respectively. Efforts in India have been bolstered by partnerships with Gen, Valmont Industries, Inc., and Macy’s in different regions. Meanwhile, in Mexico, collaborations with Escudo Antibacterial, Ludacka Wealth Partners, and MetLife Foundation are making a difference in Queretaro and Jalisco.
Mark Steele, CEO and founder of Planet Water Foundation, expressed gratitude for the support provided by their corporate partners. He highlighted the critical nature of access to safe water across different regions and praised the collaborative efforts aimed at alleviating water poverty in Asia and Latin America.
