Penguin Peloton Cycles From London To Blackpool In A Bid To Kick Cancer
The Penguin Peloton, a dedicated group of cyclists, is gearing up for a significant challenge to support the fight against cancer. From May 3rd to 5th, 2024, participants will embark on a 250-mile journey from Guy’s Hospital Tower in London to Blackpool Tower in Lancashire. Their goal is ambitious: to raise £50,000 for Penguins Against Cancer (PAC), a charity founded in 2013 by members of The Penguins, the veterans rugby team from Guy's Hospital - the oldest rugby club in the world.
PAC has grown to encompass a wide network of students, alumni, colleagues, friends, and family across numerous hospitals and organizations, all united in their commitment to combating cancer. George Tsolakides, a member of the Penguin Peloton, expressed his deep personal connection to the cause: "Being able to support this wonderful charity in its fight against cancer, after experiencing the loss of close family and friends to the disease, holds profound significance."

Remarkably, PAC operates entirely on volunteer efforts without any administrative or running costs. This ensures that 100% of donations directly contribute to cancer awareness initiatives and financial grants supporting cancer research, treatment, and hospices. Currently, PAC funds three separate cancer research projects.
The involvement of individuals and donors with PAC is vital not only for raising funds but also for educating the public about cancer. By sharing personal stories, they dispel myths and foster a deeper understanding and empathy towards those affected by the disease.
The upcoming cycling event from Guy's Hospital to Blackpool represents more than just a physical challenge; it symbolizes a collective stride towards making a significant impact in the fight against cancer. Achieving their £50,000 target would mark a milestone of £500,000 raised and disbursed by PAC for cancer awareness and support services.
Supporters are encouraged to contribute to this noble cause.
