NYACT Announces 2024 Training Schedule To Combat Insurance Fraud

In a proactive move to combat the rising tide of vehicle crime and insurance fraud in America, the New York Anti Car Theft and Fraud Association (NYACT) has unveiled its comprehensive training schedule for 2024. This initiative aims to equip law enforcement and insurance special investigations units with the latest strategies and knowledge to tackle fraudulent activities effectively. Nichole Soriano, Chair of the NYACT Board of Directors and Assistant Vice President of Organized Fraud at Travelers Investigative Services CIFI, highlighted the critical need for updated training amidst a surge in claims.

NYACT's collaborative efforts extend to joint trainings with several prestigious organizations, including the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), New York State Chapter of Special Investigations Units, Inc., New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, alongside the New York State Police and numerous local police and sheriff bureaus. The synergy between NYACT and these entities, along with support from the New York State Attorney General’s offices and other state agencies, underscores a unified front against insurance fraud and vehicle crime.

2024 NYACT Fraud Training Schedule

The 2024 training lineup is both diverse and targeted, addressing various facets of fraud and vehicle crime. Law enforcement personnel can look forward to a three-day Vehicle Crimes Investigation Course exclusively designed for them. Additionally, the calendar features a Joint NYACT - NICB Medical Fraud Training in April, followed by NYACT’s 2024 Technology Summit in May. The subsequent months are packed with specialized trainings, including the annual Joint NYACT - NICB Workers’ Compensation Fraud Training in June, a summer conference with NYSSIU in July at West Point, and a Fall conference in September at the Turning Stone Resort. The year will round off with a Vehicle Arson Awareness Program in October, culminating in the NYACT Annual State Education Conference and Advanced Auto Theft Training in November.

Since its inception in 1980, NYACT has been at the forefront of providing premier training and networking opportunities for law enforcement, state agencies, and industry personnel across New York state. These efforts are geared towards enhancing skills in detecting auto-related, medical, and other types of insurance claims fraud as well as auto theft programs and techniques.
