NLM Photonics Welcomes Brad Booth As CEO To Spearhead Photonic Innovations
NLM Photonics, a pioneering firm in the field of photonics solutions, has announced a significant shift in its leadership structure. Brad Booth, a current member of the board, is set to take over as CEO, stepping into the shoes of co-founder Gerard Zytnicki. Zytnicki will not be stepping away from the company's operations but will instead transition to the role of Chief Operating Officer while continuing his duties as Chairperson of the Board of Directors. This strategic move comes at a crucial juncture for NLM Photonics as it gears up to commercialize its high-efficiency modulator technology.
"We are excited about the places Brad can take NLM," expressed Zytnicki, highlighting Booth's extensive experience in cloud computing and AI/ML technologies as invaluable assets for the company's future endeavors. Booth's career is marked by significant contributions to technology strategy and development, particularly in the realms of cloud services and artificial intelligence. His work has been instrumental in advancing industry standards and consortia, making him a respected figure in the technology community.

Booth's vision for NLM Photonics is clear. He aims to leverage the company's innovative silicon-organic hybrid technology to meet the growing demands for energy-efficient data transport. This technology, which builds upon existing silicon platforms, promises to enable higher data rates while improving energy efficiency—a critical need in an era marked by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing.
Before joining NLM Photonics, Booth held key positions at Meta Platforms and Microsoft Azure, focusing on developing optical connectivity solutions for cloud and AI data centers. His previous stints at Dell, Intel, and Bell-Northern Research further solidify his expertise in networking and technology development. Booth has also played a pivotal role in founding several important industry consortia, including the Ultra Ethernet Consortium and the Ethernet Alliance.
The reshuffling of NLM Photonics' executive team also saw Vijay Raghavan joining as Chief Financial Officer in January. Additionally, co-founder Dr. Lewis E. Johnson will transition from Chief Scientific Officer to Chief Technology Officer, reflecting the company's heightened focus on product development and commercial R&D partnerships.
NLM Photonics is headquartered in Seattle and is dedicated to developing advanced photonics solutions that aim to revolutionize networking, computing, and sensing technologies. The company is poised for significant growth as it prepares for Series A fundraising efforts and scales its commercial partnerships and technology development initiatives.
With this strategic realignment of its leadership team, NLM Photonics is well-positioned to navigate the challenges of commercializing its innovative technologies while continuing to forge strong partnerships across the globe.
