New Rush Hall School Enhances SEMH Pupil Support With Modular Learning Spaces
LONDON, UK. April 9th, 2024 – In a significant development for educational facilities catering to students with social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) difficulties, New Rush Hall School in Ilford is set to enhance its infrastructure with the addition of a new modular building. This building, supplied by GCS Cabins, will introduce a gym and music suite aimed at enriching the learning environment and supporting the wellbeing of its pupils.
New Rush Hall School, known for its specialised support for pupils aged 5 to 16 with SEMH challenges, is committed to providing a personalised and inclusive education to all 80 of its students. The school has previously collaborated with GCS Cabins for two modular buildings, focusing on creating therapy rooms, break-out spaces, a library, individual learning spaces, and accessible toilets.

The upcoming third modular building, spanning 108m2, is currently under construction off-site and is scheduled for installation in May. It will house a gym equipped with various machines, a boxing ring, removable punch bags, a toilet, two showers, and a fully soundproofed recording studio. This initiative aims to create a Creative and Fitness Hub that will offer pupils access to facilities promoting creativity, talent development, fitness, and mental health.
Mr. Walters, Executive Headteacher at New Rush Hall School, highlighted the positive impact of these spaces on student wellbeing and academic performance. He noted the school's ongoing partnership with GCS Cabins in designing purpose-fit spaces that are flexible, supportive, and cost-effective. The project underscores the school's dedication to enhancing student experiences through extracurricular activities linked to improved attainment and classroom behaviour.
Modular classrooms present a versatile solution for schools looking to expand or refine their facilities. These customisable units allow for the creation of dynamic spaces tailored to the specific needs of students and teachers. GCS Cabins' expertise in designing inspiring learning environments has been instrumental in realizing New Rush Hall School's vision for a supportive educational setting.
The completion of this project within a 12-week timeframe from order to completion exemplifies the efficiency and effectiveness of modular construction in meeting educational needs. As New Rush Hall School prepares to welcome this new addition to its campus, the focus remains on fostering an environment where every pupil can thrive academically and personally.
