New Beginnings: Pioneers Of AI Art, London Exhibition Explores The Evolution Of AI Artistry
In a significant move that marks a new chapter in the intersection of art and technology, HOFA Gallery, in collaboration with Fellowship AI platform daily.xyz, has announced the launch of 'New Beginnings'. This innovative exhibition, set to take place in London from 11 to 30 April 2024, aims to document the evolution of AI artistry by blending the realms of artificial intelligence, art, and human experience. The event is curated in partnership with AI art curation and research specialists, Crysalis, and will feature works from 14 globally renowned AI artists.
Among the artists showcased are Niceaunties, Sougwen Chung, Emily Xie, Agoria, and Elman Mansimov. These artists are celebrated for their exploration into the profound effects of AI on art and human interaction. The exhibition also includes works by Kevin Abosch, Ivona Tau, Gordon Cheung, Roope Rainisto, Crosslucid, Jennifer & Kevin McCoy, Legio X, Sheldrick, and Noper. Each artist brings a unique perspective on the integration of AI technologies with creative expression.

Elio D’Anna, Co-founder of HOFA Gallery, shared insights into the exhibition's conception. "With the emergence of new AI models and techniques in 2023, a significant technological evolution occurred. 'New Beginnings' captures major works conceived and produced in this post-transition period alongside early era AI creations of immense significance," he stated.
The exhibition promises a diverse spectrum of mediums and methodologies that reflect on AI's journey as both an inspiration and an instrument in the artistic process. Highlights include Niceaunties' exploration of themes such as aging and personal freedom through generative AI and digital art. Sougwen Chung's MEMORY (Drawing Operations Unit: Generation 2) piece stands out as the first AI model acquired by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
Other notable contributions include Emily Xie's algorithmically generated textures and forms that navigate between chance and control. Agoria's 'I Feel Good' offers a cinematic exploration that delves into the complex relationship between AI and humanity. Elman Mansimov's alignDRAW project is highlighted for its pioneering research in AI, marking a new era of human-machine collaboration.
HOFA Gallery has been at the forefront of curating contemporary artworks that merge traditional techniques with digital innovation since its inception in 2012. Similarly, Fellowship aims to shape the future of art by leveraging blockchain technology to introduce art to a new generation of collectors.
Sunny Cheung from M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture, expressed his excitement about the exhibition. "The recent advancements in AI and generative art processes often feel like magic. Through 'New Beginnings', we explore this magic in AI's evolution and its impact on creative practices," he remarked.
