Mitsubishi Ralliart To Compete With Enhanced Triton In Asia Cross Country Rally 2024
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has officially announced its participation in the upcoming Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) through Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, with the event set to traverse from Thailand to Malaysia this August. The team is setting its sights on victory, leveraging a modified version of the Triton pickup truck, known as the T1 prototype, which boasts significant enhancements in power and performance. This announcement was made at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show, where the rally car's new livery was unveiled.
Last year, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart showcased its prowess at the AXCR with three all-new Tritons, securing third place overall thanks to Chayapon Yotha from Thailand. The team also clinched the Team Award, a testament to their collective performance and the vehicles' reliability. This year, the Triton rally car has undergone further refinements for improved acceleration and handling, setting the stage for a competitive showdown.

The 2024 AXCR marks the 29th edition of Southeast Asia's largest cross-country rally. Starting on August 11th with a ceremonial launch in Surat Thani, Thailand, the rally will cover approximately 2,000 kilometers, including over 1,000 kilometers of special stages. Competitors will navigate a challenging terrain featuring mountains, jungles, and river crossings before concluding in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 17th.
Hiroshi Masuoka, team director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, expressed confidence in the Triton's capabilities, highlighting its sporty handling and robust performance on rough terrains. With enhancements aimed at matching vehicles with higher displacement engines, the team is optimistic about their chances for this year's championship.
The new livery of the Triton rally car draws inspiration from last year's design while incorporating new elements that symbolize dynamism and resilience. The front features a digitized dust image that transitions into gunmetal gray graphics towards the back, representing volcanic rock. This design choice reflects the vehicle's durability and reliability under challenging conditions.
