Saudi Ministry Of Finance Highlights Anti-Corruption Efforts At UN Meeting

The Ministry of Finance took part in the 16th session of meetings under the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held from June 16 to 20, 2025, at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna. The ministry highlighted Saudi Arabia's dedication to promoting integrity and fair competition in public procurement.

Saudi Arabia has implemented several initiatives and legal measures to combat corruption. One such measure is the government procurement e-portal "Etimad." This platform ensures all activities related to public tenders are conducted transparently, maintaining procedural integrity and data privacy.

The Kingdom has also introduced the "Raqeeb" system, which uses artificial intelligence and advanced analytics. This system detects and prevents fraud throughout the procurement process by analyzing data for bid rigging, collusion, price manipulation, and other irregularities.

Furthermore, the Saudi delegation emphasized efforts to unify technical systems across government entities through the Unified Government Resources Planning System. This ensures all procurement actions are documented before public announcements, enhancing transparency and accountability.

The ministry's participation in this meeting underscores its commitment to international anti-corruption initiatives. It aims to learn from other nations' experiences and exchange expertise according to the United Nations Convention against Corruption provisions.

This involvement aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes governance, transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption as foundational pillars. The Kingdom's efforts reflect a broader commitment to these principles on a global scale.

The "Etimad" platform provides stakeholders access to data related to public tenders. Each government entity has a dedicated record documenting contracts and announced projects. This allows oversight bodies to verify compliance with regulations effectively.

By employing advanced technological tools for continuous oversight, Saudi Arabia enhances transparency in public procurement. The "Raqeeb" system supports flexible oversight scenarios for rapid responses while upholding data privacy and confidentiality.

The ministry's participation signifies its dedication to supporting global anti-corruption efforts. It seeks not only to contribute but also to gain insights from international organizations and countries worldwide.
