The MINI Paul Smith Edition: A Unique Twist On British Automotive Design

Paul Smith and MINI, two iconic British brands, have deepened their collaboration with introduction of the new MINI Paul Smith Edition. This follows previous collaborations like the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022. The latest edition brings Paul Smith's renowned design style to the MINI Cooper 3-door, 5-door, and Convertible models. The world premiere is set for October 29 at Japan Mobility in Tokyo.

Unique Design Elements

The exterior of the MINI Paul Smith Edition features exclusive colours and accents that reflect both brands' histories. Three paint finishes are available: Statement Grey, Inspired White, and Midnight Black Metallic. Statement Grey is reminiscent of the classic MINI Austin Seven colour from 1959. Inspired White pays homage to Classic Mini Beige, while Midnight Black Metallic offers an elegant touch.

Nottingham Green adds sophistication to contrasting elements like side mirrors and grilles. This colour also appears on one of two roof variants. The Signature Stripe by Paul Smith decorates the roof in Nottingham Green on one side. Alternatively, Jet Black roofs feature matte and glossy black stripes.

Interior Details

The interior showcases British elegance with modern touches. Knitted surfaces in black adorn dashboards and door panels. Nightshade Blue sports seats made from Vescin feature knitted textiles on headrests. Bright decorative stitching on steering wheels reflects Paul Smith's Signature Stripe.

When Personal Mode is selected, three different Paul Smith backgrounds appear on the central display. Hidden details include a light projection greeting with 'Hello' when doors open and a stylized 'rabbit' graphic on floor mats.

The partnership between MINI and Sir Paul Smith began in 1998 with a limited edition classic Mini featuring unique blue paintwork. In 1999, for MINI's 40th anniversary, an exclusive one-off model showcased Smith's stripe design using 86 stripes in 26 colours.

In 2021, they introduced the minimalist yet detailed MINI STRIP vehicle based on what was deemed essential by Paul Smith himself. Following this was the 2022 release of an electric version called MINI Recharged by Paul Smith.

Paul Smith Capsule Collection

To celebrate this latest collaboration, Sir Paul Smith will launch a capsule collection inspired by details from the new edition. This collection will include bags reflecting elements from their creative partnership.
