Millennium Slate LLC Awarded Third US Patent, Broadens Product Range
Millennium Slate LLC, a pioneering company in the roofing industry, has recently been awarded its third U.S. Patent, Patent No. 11,927,017, titled "Roofing System and Method". This latest patent, along with two preceding ones, safeguards Millennium’s innovative approach to roofing materials through the use of hook and loop adherence. This technology underpins The Centennial System™ for roofing slates, a product that is revolutionizing the roofing sector with its efficiency and durability.
The Centennial System™ boasts an installation speed that is more than five times faster than traditional roofing methods. Additionally, it significantly reduces the weight of slate roofs by half, making it a more practical option for a wide range of buildings. Its resilience was proven in wind tunnel tests, where it withstood winds up to 160mph, equivalent to Category 5 Hurricane strength. Notably, roofs installed with this system have survived Hurricane Lee at Category 1 strength without sustaining any damage.

Expanding beyond roofing solutions, Millennium Slate is also advancing into wall cladding materials using the same hook and loop technology. The company collaborates with geographically diverse clients to bring this innovative solution to various markets. Among these clients are Gagne & Son in Belgrade, ME, and Sarisand Tile in Charlottesville, VA. Gagne & Son operates as a stocking dealer for Millennium’s wall claddings and accessories, available in their seven stores across Maine and through an extensive network of 100 distribution customers. Sarisand Tile has recently expanded into a new 32,000-square-foot showroom and offers four stock wall claddings from Millennium.
Millennium sources its materials from reputable partners to ensure quality and sustainability. Sawn face and fired face brick options are provided by Morin Brick of Auburn, Maine, one of New England’s remaining brick foundries. Additionally, Millennium offers reclaimed barnboard and painted rough cut lumber for a rustic aesthetic. The slate used in both roofing and wall cladding projects is quarried in Canada, Vermont, and New York by Evergreen Slate Co. Inc., Millennium’s parent company.
The versatility of Millennium’s products is evident in their application across various projects including foundation wall coverups, kitchen backsplashes, and thin wall coverings.
