2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS Boosts Range And Luxury With Latest Updates
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a comprehensive update for its EQS electric flagship sedan for the 2024 model year, focusing on enhanced range, luxury, and technical advancements. The highlight of this update is the increased battery capacity, which now enables the EQS to achieve an additional 82 kilometers of range, pushing its maximum distance to over 800 kilometers on a single charge. This significant improvement underscores Mercedes-Benz's commitment to advancing electric vehicle (EV) technology and sustainability.
The exterior of the EQS sees a stylish upgrade with a new radiator cover that includes chrome applications and an upright Mercedes star on the front hood, lending the vehicle a more prestigious appearance. Inside, the cabin's luxury quotient is elevated with galvanized chrome frames around the ventilation nozzles on the B-pillars and enhanced rear seat comfort features. For those desiring ultimate rear-seat luxury, Mercedes-Benz offers the optional Extended Rear Luxury Lounge Pack. This package includes a range of amenities such as a slanted footrest, foldable passenger seat with adjustable backrest, seat heating, neck and shoulder heating, and pneumatic seat depth adjustment, along with an illuminated trim piece on the back of the front seats.
On the technical front, the EQS benefits from several enhancements aimed at improving driving experience and efficiency. The braking system has been refined for better pedal feel through a modified brake force cylinder. Additionally, the recuperation level has been increased to allow for greater deceleration and more energy recovery. The inclusion of the MBUX Hyperscreen as standard equipment represents a leap forward in in-car technology, merging three screens into one seamless display. A standard heat pump utilizes waste heat from the electric drive to warm the interior, further optimizing climate comfort and efficiency.
Convenience and Charging Solutions
Maintenance and charging convenience have also seen improvements. Mercedes-Benz now offers over-the-air (OTA) technology updates for faster and more convenient software upgrades. A comprehensive maintenance service is now standard on all EVA 2 models, covering necessary maintenance for up to six years or 90,000 kilometers. For charging, EQS owners can enjoy free electricity at IONITY charging stations for one year. The vehicle supports easy start and lock functionalities with the KEYLESS-GO comfort package and is compatible with the Digital Vehicle Key for convenient key sharing.
